Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band made a stop in western PA last night, bringing his usual high-energy style, mesmerizing guitar playing and unique take on the blues. The guitarist, who got his first record deal at the age of 16, makes it seem so effortless, like the guitar is an extension of himself. Long-time vocalist Noah Hunt has a velvet voice that was just made to sing the blues, and anything else for that matter. The entire band is made up of heavy hitters and could carry the night on their own. You can hardly call them a traditional blues band, though. They put their own original style on everything they do, from original tunes to covers. This is one of those bands that I never get tired of listening to, and their live show is without compare. Unfortunately, a photo pass wasn’t to be for this one, but my little point-and-shoot did all right from where I was sitting.
